On June 13, the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in India reported that 3,900 applicants were interviewed during the annual Student Visa Day, highlighting the strong interest of Indian students in U.S. higher education.

 Top Destination: The U.S. remains the preferred higher education destination for Indian students, with 69% favoring it over other countries. The U.S. Mission has expanded the 2024 student visa season to meet growing demand.

·         Record Growth: In 2023, the number of Indian students studying in the U.S. saw unprecedented growth, with more visas issued than in the combined years of 2018, 2019, and 2020.

·         Largest Group: Indian students are expected to become the largest group of international students in the U.S.

·         Increased Demand: There has been a 400% increase in demand for all other visas from 2021 to 2023.

Student Visa Day, established eight years ago by the Department of State, Mission India, and EducationUSA, aims to provide information on studying in the U.S. and demonstrates the U.S. government's commitment to facilitating student travel. U.S. Ambassador Eric Garcetti emphasized the potential and opportunities awaiting Indian students in the U.S., reinforcing the strong bilateral relationship.
